Drama

I’ve done lots of shows. Here are a few of my favourites.

PUBERTY BLUES

‘Puberty Blues’ was a wonderful deep dive into 1970’s Australian life. Often funny yet also disturbing, it will always be a highlight of my working life. Created by John Edwards and directed by Glendyn Ivin.

GALLIPOLI

Starring Kodi Smit-McPhee, ‘Gallipoli’ is intense drama that, over 7 episodes, and roughly 300 minutes of airtime, contributes mightily to an understanding of the humanity and sufferings on both sides of The War to End All Wars.

SAFE HARBOUR

Featuring Ewen Leslie, Phoebe Tonkin, Hazem Shammas and Jackie McKenzie, ‘Safe Harbour’ deftly balances the conflicts and alliances created when two worlds collide. Stephen Corvini at Matchbox produces and Glendyn Ivin directs this Emmy Award winning production.

HOWZAT

Howzat was great fun. A TV Drama created from a pivotal point of Australia’s cultural and sporting history, it sticks it to the gatekeepers in classic 1970’s larrikin style. Wittily directed by Daina Reid (who has gone on to great things in the USA with The Handmaid’s Tale) this rated hugely.

THE MEDDLER (EL METIDO)

Shot over 7 years, this feature documentary is the debut of Finch director Alex Roberts. German Cabrera watches, films and gifts his footage to the television networks to keep the true story of Guatamala City alive. His lens is on the gangland violence of the streets at night. We try to create a psychological portrait of a man addicted to doing what he thinks is ‘right”, but who paradoxically delves deeper and deeper into his own obsession, of the darkness of the city around him and of his soul within. To his immense danger.
